Medicaid benefit for doula services failed to pass out of the House.
On March 5, 2021, H.B. 727 was introduced which would provide doula services for pregnant women who are Medicaid members. The Bill required the development of a State Plan Amendment to be submitted to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Doula services would be provided at a minimum reimbursement rate of $500 for labor and delivery, $800 for prenatal and labor and delivery, and $100 for prenatal, labor and delivery, and postpartum doula services. These rates would reassessed yearly.
